DCL Concert

So here we are after the concert in Disco Bar Luna. What can I say, it was just awful, no wait that's not right, it was awfully great. We had a blast. Excellent crowd considering we're quite young for a band that is. Our colleagues danced, our friends chanted and strange faces smiled as we played. It was fantastic

I have to say I was very annoyed that our old bass player wasn't with us because of work issues and squabbling between Rafa and Paco. Paco was too nervous for the groups performance because Rafa didn't come to any rehearsals but I knew he would have been great. Rafa is an amazing bass player

So when Rocker aka Jose offered to play in his sted I was conflicted. It was very hypocritical of us to allow him to play after loosing Rafa because of rehearsal issues and yet here we had the same issue but after doing one rehearsal with Rocker I knew It was going to be cosher.

So after one rehearsal the day previous and another mini rehearsal during sound check we were almost ready but I had one problem knawing at my brain as I went home to shower, eat and get changed for the show, THE SOUND wasn't right. The PA system wasn't set up correctly. My voice crackled as I sang but it wasn't me that was crackling.

So I got back to the bar ASAP as I wasn't going to allow a bad sound check ruin our concert again, the year previous was a resounding failure because of a shitty sound technician but this concert didn't have a sound technician. It was our own fault so I had to fix it and I did.

We had a blast and we were pleasantly surprised as too were our esteemed guests, The Audience. Thank you for a lovely time. We had a blast.

Some of the most famous musicians of the 21st century like B B King, U2, Joe Bonnamasa, Sting, Bob Marley, Police, Eric Clapton. Also some original songs from us truly.

New Guitar amp Marshall AS50D.

So I recently acquired a Marshall AS50D acoustic amp. It's got 2 channels, 1 acoustic and the other microphone/Aux channel. It's got chorus & reverb loop effects built in with anti-feedback.
At the back it's got a footswitch, line out Jacks and also a D. I. Out plus an effects loop.
In my opinion it's a pretty awesome little amp for the money. It makes my acoustic sound even better and it picks up all of the nuisances that my old amp didn't pick up . Acoustic players should check it out if you're on a tight budget. You won't be disappointed.

Pre Winter/ Winter Festival

The last two weekends saw another great effort from the local government in Puertollaño to promote local and national musical talent. I had the pleasure to play in the Pre-winter Festival which was a pre-promotional initiative. Down a man Chris Alan & Los Troublues played in Café Dublin to a well receiving crowd. It turned out to be a pleasant affair and well worth visiting the Café Dublin again. If you look all over the internet you will find people from all walks of life vying for a chance to be recognised as a talented singer yet every effort they make to get recognised falls on deaf ears like a tidal-wave beating its ferocious fist against isolated cliffs.The more one tries the more one gets frustrated and maybe even a bit bitter towards the carefree world which isn't willing to listen to them.These people have spent years practising, rehearsing and honing their skills to become the best singer they can be and yet year after year their efforts appear to be in vain 

       This is a photo of a group called Darkways. Almost two years together but after arguements and people changing their taste and opinions this group lost two of it's members who have gone on to work together as a duo.The singer of the group Chris Alan aka me!I am still looking for some kind of global recognition for my efforts and yet all I have is an empty Akademia achievement for best song Americana but after going back to check last years winners amazingly my name was missing from the list of winners.Yet another cheap ass con from apparently a large organisation who is preying on the dreams of people who wish to become world renowned singers.The depravity of it all.People are disgusting selfish pigs at times.

So here I am still dreaming and still hoping that some day I might actually get to where I am going although its not likely if the world keeps working the way it does.My eldest daughter said to me the other day "dad it's horrible that the people behind the x-factor prefer to take losers and deranged people to sing on their shows and only allow a small few talented singer through while turning away all those hard working and talented singers" She's right you know. Pathetic to think that people making fools of themselves get more ratings than true talent nowadays.Just look at all the talent-less idiots who do stupid stunts or who act like monkeys in the wild or offend people just because people on YouTube like that crap more than someone who is talented at something.It's like they are offended to just see them or hear them.

How small have we become to behave like that.Word of advice to everyone out there who plays an instrument,sings,dances or has a unique talent that has worked for years on perfecting their gift but has felt anything remotely like this you should speak up about this behaviour. Let them know that it's not alright to belittle someone or make them feel worthless or even ignore them.People need to more sympathetic towards an artists feeling but they should also try to recognise and promote that talent more unless you want a more generic and boring society full of under achievers.

Am I angry and bitter, yes I am because even the music business belittles our talents because of the general public's perception of art and artists.Most of the times it's impossible to even get people to notice that you're there. Arrrrgh! I apologies for my rant but it had to be done.I'm not ignorant I'm just like you in a world where its easy to ignore each other when people spend more time by themselves with their PP's.All in all, I'm just another brick in the wall.

 So after getting everything ready for our concert in December it turns out  that the Francis bar got a complaint against it for making noise, last Friday and if they get another one the bar will be closed for six months.

 So now all concerts for the month of December are cancelled until further notice according to the owner of the bar.As of that moment Darkways has been looking for an alternative bar to house our inauguration concert.

 I will keep you all up to date on the matters as they unfold.

My heart is broken, but I will survive.
